You do just fine, Jen. I struggle with the small talk, too, but at least at mom’s night you always have the kids to fall back on: What is Junior up to these days?

I do notice the phone thing. Weirdo.

All joking aside, Eric is very similar to this. It’s classic introvert behaviour. Especially the phone. It drives me BONKERS how long it takes him to make a simple phone call, ie: to book a mechanic. But it’s totally an “I-don’t-know-you-and-that-makes-me-nervous” thing for the both of you.

And both of you are more comfortable in familiar places with familiar people, routines, schedules etc.

There’s nothing wrong with it, so don’t apologize. It’s just who you are. And those that know you, love you no matter what.

You could start a serious kerfuffle with the FU Penguin guy who spends all day blogging about his palpable hatred of cute disarming animal photos. He’s REALLY (although it’s probably a gimmick) angry at this perceived threat to human defenses. Then he went and wrote a book and got rich and famous for just this very thing. Me thinks you can pen the companion book to offer up the very fluffy and warm rebuttal to all that bluster!

I told my mom that I had written a Remembrance Day post that wouldn’t require the use of Kleenex to read.

Several hours later I was informed that I must be a heartless robot to think she wouldn’t cry. Apparently she was bawling. I’m not proud of making my mom cry. I AM, however, proud to say that I made my 23 year old, 6′2″, 200 lb, Nuclear Engineer of a brother shed a tear. Like a baby. On the same day that he brought home his new Grand Prix, Dale Earnhart edition.

Epic Win. Wish I had my camera.
