26. Night

Magic Kingdom, the hap, hap, happiest place on Earth.  Taken in September, 2010.  I’ve been to a Disney park and estimated 40 times in (what I think has been) 8 or 9 visits and we’re going again next April for my dad’s 60th birthday, bringing that estimation up to 45.  I know there are a lot of people who are anti-Disney for a variety of reasons (Walt’s antisemitism, the commercialism of the company as a whole, the crowds, theme parks in general), but for me, personally, Disney holds a very, very special place in my heart.  I could probably walk you through Magic Kingdom and Epcot with my eyes closed.  Disney Studios houses two of my favourite rides I’ve ever ridden (Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster), and I’ve been on a few in my day.  I’ll never be able to afford a real African safari, so Animal Kingdom is the next best thing.  And finally, the day we spent at Typhoon Lagoon (I’ve never done Blizzard Beach) was the single greatest day of our vacation two years ago.

I’m a Disney fanatic and I won’t apologize.

  1. Boy will I have a TON of questions for you in the future! Jeff and I were thinking of doing a trip to Disney with the kids next April or May (first of all, is this a good time to go?) We don’t know anything about Disney as neither of us have ever been. Like where do we stay? Do we get an all inclusive package? Our kids are big “ride” kids so which parks are worth it for them and which are not? How can we do this the fairly cheaply? Is “cheaply” a word? You know, those types of questions. I don’t expect answers now but oh well maybe answer this one…when do we start planning/booking this trip? It’s really overwhelming really. We definitely want to fly there as the kids really want to go on a plane and well…we just aren’t a good car travelling long distances family but with the flight, I was hoping to do the whole trip for $5k – $7k. Do you know roughly what a week in Disney costs? Oh, like I said, very overwhelming. Sometimes I think it would just be easier to go to an all inclusive resort in Domincan or something like that but at the same time, I kinda want to give my kids that Disney experience. When we are thinking of going, they would be 6 years old and 8 years old, so I think it would be perfect timing. Past all the whining, bratty bs and but before the attitude and they will remember it!!

    What a great pic!

  2. I’m right there with you. From the moment my foot steps into Disney property I’m transformed. I don’t know if the power of my
Childhood memories is enough to cause that kind of reaction every single time, but those parks hold something strangely magical for me.
